Owners: Earl, Allison, & son Ben Smith

Previously known as Kanawha Valley Dragway, the track closed in 2016 much to the disappointment of local race fans. It was then sold and converted into farm land.

With a passion for racing, Earl had a great desire to see this track back up and running. He, his family, and friends have worked diligently to get the track not only operational but to continually improve all aspects.

The Smiths purchased it near the end of 2023. With support from many people and businesses, work began to get the track back into shape.

Southside Dragway held its opening race in 2024 as a no-prep event. Cars and spectators packed the facility bringing in new life and much excitement.

The brand new timing system was purchased as 2024 was coming to a close allowing one bracket race before the snow started flying.

2025 opened with a full schedule of both no-prep and ET bracket events.

The track and pit surfaces are being paved between the 2025-2026 race seasons.

The Smith family puts their time, effort, financial resources, and heart into this track.
You’ll meet Allison at the gate collecting entry fees. Ben in the staging lanes directing traffic and entering ETs. And Earl doing anything needed while also taking time to give you a fist bump and a “thanks for coming” while in the staging lanes.

At Southside Dragway you will feel like part of the family.
